Tartufo del Poggio Farm

Tartufo del Poggio Farm Tartufo del Poggio was born from the expertise of Zenobio Angellozzi, a fifth-generation truffle hunter and ‘keeper of the secrets’ of truffle hunting since his childhood, of his wife Rita, a skilled truffle grower with decade long experience in the cultivation and care of truffle trees, and their daughter Annarita, heir to the knowledge and expertise of her parents.

Tartufo del Poggio is located in Olibra, a small village in the municipality of Venarotta, in the Province of Ascoli Piceno (Italy).

We are a family-run company built on the expertise of a team for whom truffle is much more than just a job. The company was established to provide customers with a high-quality range of products: all of this was made possible thanks to the expertise of Zenobio Angellozzi, a fifth-generation truffle hunter, of his wife Rita, a skilled truffle grower with decade long experience in the cultivation and care of truffle trees and plants and of their daughter Annarita, witness of the dedication of her parents and of their respect for truffle.

Tartufo del Poggio
Fresh, Preserved and Frozen Truffles

After harvesting, the truffles are sorted in the field and then hand-washed in order to protect their appearance. After that, truffles undergo a thorough visual and tactile inspection and, finally, they are divided into their respective categories or ‘Selections’: Super Extra, Extra, First-Choice and Pieces.

Fresh Truffle

When consumed fresh, truffles are enjoyed at their best especially as far as their sensory properties are concerned. The truffles are harvested, washed, sorted and then vacuum-packed to keep them fresh for 24/48 hours. Finally, they are shipped by express courier to the final customer. Fresh truffles must be refrigerated at +3 – 4 °C and consumed within 4-5 days.

Preserved Truffle

Truffle can be preserved in brine or oil and is available in glass jars or tin cans. Truffle is first autoclave sterilized at 120°C and then stored at room temperature in a cool and dry place for 36 months. After opening, preserved truffle must be refrigerated (+3-4 °C) and consumed within 5 days.

Frozen Truffle

When fresh truffle is not available due to seasonal availability, frozen truffle is an excellent alternative. Truffle is first washed and sorted and is then blast frozen at -18°C and stored in freezer for up to 24 months.
